Ryan Hemsworth – Deniro Farrar & Shady Blaze “KILL OR BE KILLED” Mixtape
For someone who is known for crawling the internet for fresh sounds and who has even been given the nickname “DugBot”, I’m quite ashamed to admit that it’s only just recently that I heard about Ryan Hemsworth and only because I follow WEDIDIT and FOF and was tipped off about his recent album, “Last Words” – which I absolutely loved and it added a few super touches for the set I played at Cold Turkey.
This being said, I have steadily been keeping an eye and ear on this man who just simply amazes me. After he dropped his remix of Lianne La Havas’s “Age“, I started doing a deep search on him trying to find out everything I could about him as well as listen to everything he has produced, and all I can say is that this man is incredibly versatile with his music production – from foot stomping, head banging, booty shaking “It’s a Tennessee Thing” – with it’s old school House feel and sounds like it should be the soundtrack to a movie or a theme song for summer days to his dreamy remixes, which pluck songs like Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin’ Bout You” and Grimes’ “Genesis” out of their original context, building them a brand-new soundscape out of far-away sounding synths and trap-friendly drum patterns.
His most recent projects see him teaming up with and producing a set of tracks for rappers Deniro Farrar & Shady Blaze’s new mixtape Kill Or Be Killed, which has been named Mixtape of the Week by Stereogum.
“that Hemsworth beat feels like something I’ve been waiting for for years without even knowing it. The song might’ve been better if Shady and Deniro were rapping about witches, but I can forgive that.” ~spooky~
